Dave Dougherty has been a guitar repairman for nearly 20 years and is familiar with all levels of acoustic and electric repairs. Dave graduated from a guitar building school nearly 2 decades ago and has been working on guitars full time ever since. Dave has spent some time working with Scott and has his full faith and endorsement to continue to maintain the same level of quality you have come to know and expect.
Originally based in Philadelphia, Dave made quite a name for himself providing services for many music stores and high end guitar dealers on the East Coast. Dave is also fully qualified to work on “vintage” guitars and continues to work with collectors and dealers nationwide. You can be confident that Dave will treat you and your guitar with great care, providing detailed information and addressing any and all concerns you may have.

Most notably will be the addition of more supplies available for you or your favorite guitarist. The shop will now be stocking picks, straps, strings, capos, slides, tuners and more for your convience. As a guitar collector himself, Dave also hopes to expand the level of guitar sales available in the future (particularly “vintage” guitars). We hope to post guitars for sale on this site and update them regularly. Feel free to contact Dave if you have any guitars you may wish to sell!
A familiar face will still be working in the shop as well. Christian Phillips has worked as an apprentice and full time employee with Scott for several years. Christian continues to work in the shop doing repairs and “conversions” under new owner Dave Dougherty.
Christian is a graduate of a prominate school of lutherie and despite his young age is well on his way to becoming an excellent repairman and craftsman.
Christian has been trained in the art of “converting” old guitars from “ladder bracing” to pre-war Martin “X-bracing” and has converted many guitars over the last few years.
This conversion process takes an average “entry level” guitar and turns it into a true “player” guitar with the sound and playability of guitars that cost thousands more.
Many professionals have done this and it continues to be a popular upgrade.
